Mouse 30 Koa Fretted #1581. This exceptionally nice Mouse 30 features a semi-hollow alder body, with a beautiful flamed koa top. This particular koa is from old stock, aged over 50 years, and perfect for instrument making; well seasoned and very resonant. This piece has great character, in that it has a different look from each angle, with a superb 3D quality to it. The 30” scale neck is made from eastern black walnut, and the fingerboard is aged Indian Rosewood (20 years +). The frets are tiny mandolin sized, very easy to play, and the minimal amount of metal in the string path keeps the tone very woody and warm. The black nylon outer wrap on the La Bella 760n strings yields virtually no wear to the small frets. The headstock features a Brazilian Rosewood overlay. A locally made (in Los Angeles ,California) custom case rounds out the package. This is a specially made form fit case, so it fits like a hand in glove. The weight of this Mouse 30 is a whopping 5.5. lbs!
