Mouse 30 Koa #1614. This fine bass features a semi-hollow swamp ash body, with a stunning koa top. This particular koa wood has been seasoning for just over 50 years (perfect for instrument making), and has a very fine curl pattern that gives is a beautiful 3D shimmer. The 30” scale neck is made from mahogany, the the fingerboard is made from aged Indian rosewood (seasoned 20+ years) and also features the “integrated thumbrest” which floats just above the top of the bass. The frets are a tiny mandolin size, and offer a low action that is easy to play. They are made of nickel silver (a softer metal alloy), and due to the tiny size, do not impart a metallic tone. The strings are La Bella 760n, a steel flat wound with a black nylon outer wrapping. This wrapping is very smooth, and also protects the frets from wear, allowing a small fret size that will have a very long lifespan. The high C string has extra silk added into the winding, yielding a warm, full sound, so that when you play through the range the tone is consistent with the lower strings.
