Mouse 30 Maple Short Scale Fretless Bass #1493. This Mouse 30 model features a semi-hollow alder body, with a quilted western maple “drop top” sans binding. When the body is made without binding, a more substantial arm contour can be done, with the thin maple top steamed and them vacuum pressed onto the body, making a very nice sculpted contour. The 30 inch scale fretless neck is made from birdseye maple, with a Goncalo Alves fingerboard, featuring the integrated thumbrest. The guide lines are made of maple, so there is a very low contrast giving an overall subtle look to the neck. This bass has La Bella 760C strings on it, they have a copper winding with clear nylon over the top (as opposed to a steel winding with black nylon wrap of the 760n). The sound is very much like the black 760n, but slightly warmer with a little more mids (at least to my ear). A locally made (in Los Angeles) custom form fit hardshell case is included.
