Mouse 30 Koa Short Scale Fretted 5 String Bass #1613
This beautiful 5 string bass is strung from E to high C. It features a semi-hollow swamp ash body, with a gorgeous curly koa top. This is old stock, harvested in the 70’s, so it is well seasoned and perfect for instrument making. I bought some very large koa boards many years ago and have been slowing working through the material. The 30” scale neck is made form mahogany, which I consider to be the perfect wood for this particular model. The mahogany is lightweight, has a fast attack, yet is very warm also, with is especially important to keep the high C string sounding full. The fingerboard is made from 25+ year old Indian rosewood, with tiny mandolin frets. With the La Bella 760n tape wound strings, there is virtually no wear on the small frets, which are made of nickel, a softer metal, also a contributing factor to the warm yet clear sound of this bass. A custom made form fit case, made locally in Los Angeles by G & G is included.
