MB-2 Mahogany Fretless Bass #1560
MB-2 Mahogany Fretless Bass #1560
Mb-2 Mahogany #1560. This fine instrument features a semi-hollow swamp ash body, and a gorgeous one piece mahogany “drop top”. Since the top wood is thin in this design (about 1/8”), the hollow chamber style is more of a honeycomb type- (instead of large open chambers). This supports the top evenly and allows for a substantial arm contour, while being very light and very rigid at the same time. The ash wood provides a fast transient response, and the mahogany has a very sweet top end, so it makes a very warm, yet punchy sounding body. The 34” scale maple neck is made from eastern rock maple, and has a light birds eye figure to it, and an unlined Macasser ebony fingerboard. In addition to a very clean and elegant look, the unlined fingerboards are my favorite for sound too, as they do not have the saw cuts for the wooden line markers, so the grain is uninterrupted, adding a touch more fullness and sustain. The strings are La Bella 760n, a steel flatwound with a black nylon outer wrapping for a very smooth feel, easy on the fingers and easy on the fingerboard as well. A locally made (in Los Angeles, Ca) custom form fit case is included.
